Saltwater Fly-Fishing
Saltwater gamefish are the strongest, fastest, most exciting fish available to flyrodders. Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Snook, and Redfish on the flats. Sailfish, Tuna, Wahoo, and Dorado Offshore. They're all just a flight or two away. We've got a great selection of saltwater fly rods, reels, lines, leaders, and gear for your adventure, and the Fly Angler staff has fished many of the world's best saltwater destinations.
Bonefish
Sight-fishing for Bonefish with a fly is Scott Struif's favorite type of fishing. The visuals are incredible. Sighting and casting skills are tested fully, as bonefish "ghost" across the flats on high alert. Make a great cast, and the chances of hooking your target fish are great. Make a bad cast, and wait for your next shot. A 4-piece 8 weight rod and a great disc-drag reel is the ticket. These fish usually run out 75-150 yards in seconds, so it's critical to have the right gear. Favorite location: Andros Island, Bahamas.
Tarpon
There is no sight in fly fishing as thrilling as a tarpon engulfing your fly, then launching into the air, shaking it's head. Not to mention the awesome size and power of these shallow-water fish. A good 12-weight rod, and a top-quality reel are the only option. Favorite Location: Florida Keys
Redfish
From the Texas coast to Florida, Redfish are a favorite inshore species for fly-fishing. Tailing Redfish will get your heart pumping. They're also close to home and quite accessible. Use a 9-weight rod and good saltwater reel, and go give them a try! Favorite Location: Texas coast
Offshore: Big offshore species require specialized tackle.... we can help get you ready for your blue-water adventure.
